TCP Group establishes new strategic partnership with Siyuan Project and donates 2 million yuan to support philanthropic endeavors in China

15 July 2021

On July 15, the China Siyuan Project Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (“Siyuan Project”) and TCP Group held a signing ceremony in Beijing to commemorate the establishment of their new strategic partnership. TCP Group donated 2 million RMB to support the "Siyuan China" and the "Siyuan Same Class" charity projects and also signed an MoU with the "Siyuan Project" to support philanthropic ventures related to education, rural revitalization, disaster relief, and other areas over the next three years.

Chen Changzhi, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 11th and 12th National People's Congress (NPC), former Chairman of the China National Democratic Construction Association(CNDCA) and Chairman of the "Siyuan Project", and Chinese philanthropist Dr. Li Xiaolin, Deputy to the National People's Congress, Director of the Foreign Liaison Committee of the CNDCA, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the “Siyuan Project”, Chairman of the China E-Commerce Rural Revitalization Alliance (CECRRA), Vice Chairman of the China Charity Federation, and Supachai Junkeiat, TCP Group China Country Director, attended the signing ceremony and held a friendly dialogue. In addition, Tao Ming, Deputy Secretary General of the "Siyuan Project", Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the CECRRA, and Chen Ying, Deputy Secretary General and Office Director of the “Siyuan Project”, Liu Jia, Head of China Public Affairs at TCP Group, and Panthira Supakitvilekakarn, Senior Marketing Manager at TCP Group, also participated in the signing ceremony as well.

During the ceremony, Chen Changzhi said, “The friendship between China and Thailand has a long history and there is a deep, traditional bond between the countries’ two peoples. As a food and beverage company founded by a Thai-Chinese, TCP Group has contributed to China's economic and social development since it entered China in 1993, particularly during the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and through philanthropic endeavors. I hope that TCP Group will deepen its cooperation with the “Siyuan Project” and other partners in China, helping to support China’s new stage of development, implement the new development concept, build a new development pattern, and achieve high-quality development under the 14th Five-Year Plan and the 2035 Vision.”

Li Xiaolin noted that, “Relations between China and Thailand relations have emerged stronger after overcoming all of the difficulties during the pandemic.” After the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, TCP Group donated more than RMB 5.6 million through the "Siyuan Project" to purchase a large number of medical supplies which were urgently needed in the pandemic-affected area, including negative pressure ambulances, emergency transfer ventilators, heated infusion pumps, patient monitors and high-speed emergency infusion pumps. This played an important role in boosting the confidence of the recipient hospitals and medical workers and helped many infected patients receive timely treatment and has continued to play an active role in the post-pandemic era and medical emergency aid afterwards. Li Xiaolin added that, "In 2021, TCP Group is actively fulfilling its corporate social responsibilities by donating another RMB 2 million to the Siyuan Project and planning to continue to join hands with the Siyuan Project over the next three years to support China's public welfare endeavors and rural revitalization strategy. These efforts fully reflect the deep, abiding friendship between China and Thailand as ‘one family'.”

Supachai Junkeiat also delivered a congratulatory letter from Saravoot Yoovidhya, the CEO of TCP Group, to Chen Changzhi and expressed his admiration for the widespread achievements of the “Siyuan Project”. In the letter, Mr. Yoovidhya said, “With the rapid development of China's economy and growing demand from consumers, TCP Group is highly confident about the future of the Chinese market and will continue to uphold the principle of being “in China for China”. For the three years to come, we hope to sustain our positive momentum and work more closely with the Siyuan Project. Prioritizing our “in China, for China” strategy, we will continually give back to local communities with a focus on delivering meaningful impacts that truly make a difference. We look forward to working together with Siyuan on topics of mutual concern, such as improving living conditions in economically under-developed areas and the education environment for students and faculty. We are determined to make a strong and lasting contribution to the cause of China’s social welfare and rural revitalization.”

After the signing ceremony, a senior representative from the "Siyuan Project" and TCP Group held in-depth exchanges around charity projects and other matters.

The donation of 2 million yuan from TCP Group will be used for the “Siyuan China” charity projects, as well as the "Siyuan Same Class" jointly carried out by the "Siyuan Project" and China Education Television. Based upon the "Opinions on Vigorously Strengthening the Development and Application of Online Educational Teaching Resources in Primary and Secondary Schools," which was jointly issued by five ministries and commissions, the “Siyuan Same Class” will address educational shortcomings in remote areas, with the aim of establishing an effective long-term mechanism for “extending the reach of education and ensuring the balanced distribution of resources.”
