7 December 2022

TCP Group, the manufacturer and distributor of Kratingdaeng (Red Bull), Ready, Som Plus, Sponsor, Hi! x DHC, Mansome, Puriku, Sunsnack, and Warrior, continues to strengthen its business based on its new purpose, “Energizing a Better World for All.”, to become a “Thai enterprise on the global stage achieving sustainable growth through happiness”, TCP Group is highlighting a “proactive, positive, and supercharged” corporate culture that promotes an employee-centric environment and the three dimensions of well-being: Good Work, Good Money, and Good Physical and Mental Health.

Five aspects TCP Group considered important for employees

  1. Work: Skills development through over 630 learning courses via the TCP Learning+ app.
  2. Finance: Providing financial management to increase liquidity and eligibility for salary advances.
  3. Mind: Providing mental health consultations when employees are stressed and facing challenges.
  4. Balance: Transforming the way of working digitally and creating a flexible and a results-oriented work environment to measure employees based on what they achieve, not the hours they work.
  5. Opportunities: Providing growth and work opportunities, both domestically and internationally, as a part of Thai enterprise on the global stage.

Mr. Prakun Chanthong, Director of Human Resources and Administration Division of TCP Group, shared the company’s human resource development strategy: “Since the pre-COVID period, TCP has been implementing a reorganization plan with our employees as the key driving force to build sustainable growth. We always promote a positive environment that supports flexible work and better work-life balance to meet employee expectations in new era of work, and focus on developing new and innovative skills to enhance the capabilities of our personnel in Thailand and overseas, while cultivating a “proactive, positive, and supercharged” corporate culture so that all employees have the same organizational DNA to deal with changes in society and working in modern times.”

Creating Comfort and Happiness

“We always hear stories about burnout, exhaustion, stress and dissatisfaction with working conditions and how people are looking for a way of life that supports a better work-life balance. TCP Group understands these concerns and, in response, we adjusted our policies. The bottom line is that if employees are not happy, it is difficult for an organization to move forward.” Mr. Prakan also emphasized that “people” are at the heart of TCP Group. The company has been together side-by-side with Thais for over 60 years and employs approximately 5,000 Thai and non-Thai staff. An internal TCP Group survey found that employees were satisfied with both career growth and happiness at work, on average as high as 79%. The company is committed to continuing to improve the work environment and well-being of employees in every aspect to remain relevant and resilient to times and situations.

“We prioritize the well-being of our team through work-life integration and by using digital transformations to develop new ways to work that are modern and flexible while using digital tools to support a work from anywhere model so that they don’t have to come to work in the office. We also make sure everyone is happy. During the pandemic, we created a team to provide advice to employees who were more stressed than ever before.”

Creating financial stability

In addition to having a good work and good health, living healthy also includes financial well-being. TCP Group, therefore, implemented the Improve Liquidity for Your Wallet policy allowing employees to withdraw their salary in advance and get paid within 24 hours. TCP Group also helps employees set up a long-term plan with the help of financial advisors who provide advice to expand their financial knowledge and prepare for retirement.

Creating positive work experiences throughout the working life

Another important aspect in human resources is expectation management. Employees want to advance in their careers and seek opportunities to grow up and develop their skills to become more competitive. They also want to be flexible and capable of handling any obstacles or challenges. TCP Group’s organizational culture has been laid out in detail for employees to learn and understand from their first day of work.  This includes opportunities for growth, rewards, benefits, security, and stability that include a flexible work environment allowing employees to work from anywhere in response to the ‘new normal’ way of life. Moreover, they are given space to think or be creative in their own way. Employees, while being offered the opportunity to work abroad and be more challenged in their jobs, are also required to be good team players who contribute to the organization’s success.

TCP Group recently set up an ‘Incubator’ team to encourage employees to learn, experiment, and try new ideas that meet the needs of customers. This encourages employees to adapt to digital transformations and new technologies that accelerate innovations, and motivates them to reach their full potential. The company provides courses for employees through the TCP Learning+ app allowing them to learn about the subjects they want to know which they can join easily anytime, anywhere suited to their lifestyles. There are over 630 courses that are updated monthly and cover all lines of work, including production, human resources, accounting, and marketing.

In addition, TCP Group believes in organizational developments together with human resources because “people” drive a company. Employees play a role in taking care of one another at the division, department, and entire team level by creating a balanced, happy, and healthy working environment through cooperation among employees. This, in turn, increases employee participation in achieving individual and organizational goals rather than focusing only on company-driven objectives.

A simple truth about human resource policies that care for employees across all three dimensions lies in having the right understanding. The happiness of having a good and enjoyable work, good physical and mental health, good financial management and stability in life are the key factors in building sustainability. “To energize business growth requires energizing people within an organization to work together. How can we energize others or our customers and how can we achieve sustainability if we appear weak?” concluded Mr. Prakun.
