TCP Group Partnered with EEF to Expedite COVID-19 Crisis Relief to Vulnerable Children in All Dimensions

24 August 2021

TCP Group joins forces with Equitable Education Fund (EEF) to support “Quality Volunteer Mechanism” to expedite care to sick children and their families in vulnerable areas throughout Bangkok and to endorse “Weaving Educational Dreams for Youngsters” project that creates educational opportunities in all dimensions to prevent children from slipping out of education system.

Miss Nucharee Yoovidhya, Managing Director of TCP Group, mentions that “TCP Group is committed to caring for the society during the crisis according to the company’s framework for sustainability that also includes community services. Furthermore, TCP Group, as a big organization that takes care of over 5,000 employees, recognizes the great importance of human resource development. Therefore, for many decades, TCP Group has been continually supporting various educational projects, both internally and externally, such as providing scholarships and career counseling to employees’ offspring and initiating joint educational projects to work with the government.”

“COVID-19 crisis that Thailand is currently faced with has reached the most critical point. One of the most impacted groups in the society is vulnerable children. The emergency issue that TCP Group will take on alongside EEF is taking care of children’s wellbeing so that they are in safe condition, ready for studying while securing enough funds to support their education without having to drop out of school. The aids will be provided through “Quality Volunteer Mechanism” and “Weaving Educational Dreams for Youngsters” projects that aim at taking care of both their health and educational funds simultaneously,” Miss Nucharee Yoovidhya shares while stating that stopping these problems is the main purpose of TCP Group joining forces with EEF to carry out these educational projects.

The crisis caused by the new upsurge of COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted every sector of the society. Children in vulnerable communities are among those who are the most affected as they lack access to decent healthcare as well as suffer economic crisis and eventually disrupted education. Consequently, TCP Group has joined forces with EEF to provide emergency aid to children in the target group through mobilizing funds to bolster “Quality Volunteer Mechanism Support Project” by offering 400 baht to each of 100 EEF volunteers, amounting to 1.2 million baht, and “Weaving Educational Dreams for Youngsters” Financial Aid Project by granting 10,000-baht financial aid to 400 students for their educational expenses, 4 million baht in total, in order to help them enter Mathayomsuksa 4 or Vocational Certificate 1 levels. There are some of the efforts to build social equality and to provide care to children and youths in all dimensions.

Quality Volunteer Mechanism acts as the reinforcement to the main serving organizations in the forms of teaching volunteers in the communities both inside and outside the education system; youth volunteers; transportation of sick children; around-the-clock delivery of medication, symptom monitoring devices and life sustaining equipment in emergency cases; volunteers to take care of dependent children with a high risk of contracting COVID-19 during their 14-day state quarantine; volunteers to provide care for incapacitated or dependent sick children at the medical centers; volunteers to visit children and their families in the communities to make sure that they receive medicines, food and necessary supplies; and volunteers to attend to children who are placed in temporary foster homes.

Dr. Kraiyos Patrawart, Deputy Managing Director of Equitable Education Fund (EEF), reveals that the latest update shows approximately 2,900 new child cases reported daily with the accumulative total of 107,245 cases (as of August 20, 2021). Around 70% of which are expected to be the underprivileged children whose families live together in limited spaces. Inevitably, congested living condition speeds up COVID-19 contraction, causing impacts in all dimensions including physical and mental health, society and risk of slipping out of education system.

EEF therefore mobilizes collaborations with other partners in order to proactively provide relief to the issues at hand through EEF Crisis Relief Center for Children. The purpose is to reinforce the main serving organizations by bridging the gap and tackling the challenges that have placed the target group in critical conditions in the first place. Besides supplying the urgently needed resources, more importantly, EEF volunteer mechanism has a clear mission of providing emergency relief to children in crisis. Wherever there is a child at risk, EEF volunteers will deliver their immediate help to stop inequality at the root cause. In the restoration stage, following up and planning will be provided for each child in order to prevent each one of them from slipping out of the education system. EEF is thankful to every sector that has taken part in building social protection in order to achieve equality in education even during the crisis.
