TCP Group Becomes the First Thai-founded Beverage Company to Achieve AWS Core Certification at its Prachinburi Plant
  • TCP Group becomes the first Thai-founded beverage company to achieve Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Core certification at its Prachinburi Plant—a globally recognized standard for responsible water use covering water risk assessment, water-use efficiency improvement, and systematic engagement with stakeholders across catchment.
  • Advancing water security in collaboration with communities and partners in the Bang Pakong River Basin, the company focuses on knowledge sharing and strengthening water stewardship capacity for long-term sustainability.

Amid growing global water challenges, the Prachinburi plant under TCP Group has taken a significant step in elevating water management standards within Thailand’s industrial sector by achieving Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) Core certification, an internationally recognized standard for sustainable water management. The certification marks an important milestone in strengthening water security for businesses, communities, and ecosystems. It also covers the operations of T.C. Pharmaceutical Industries Co., Ltd.–Prachinburi Plant, located within the Bang Pakong River Basin in Prachinburi Province, making it the first Thai-founded beverage company to receive this certification.

Raising the Standard of Water Stewardship for Thai Industry

The Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) standard is a global framework for sustainable water management that encourages businesses to manage water responsibly through a comprehensive understanding of the local water context in which they operate. The standard promotes awareness of both risks and opportunities related to water resources while encouraging collaboration with stakeholders at the catchment level to develop balanced and sustainable water stewardship practices.

AWS certification evaluates an organization’s water stewardship performance across five key pillars, including Good Water Governance, Sustainable Water Balance, Good Water Quality Status, Important Water-Related Areas (IWRAs), and Safe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for All (WASH). Together, these principles aim to create long-term shared value for businesses, communities, and the environment.

Water Stewardship: A Core Driver of Sustainable Growth

TCP Group, the producer and distributor of beverages and snacks under brands including Kratingdaeng, Red Bull, Ready, Som Plus, Sponsor, Mansome, Hi!, Puriku, Sunsnack, and Warrior, operates under the purpose “Energizing a Better World for All.” Water stewardship is a key pillar of the company’s sustainability strategy. The Company is committed to achieving the goal of becoming "Net Water Positive" by 2030 by returning more water to communities than it uses in production.

At the Prachinburi plant, water consumption is tightly managed across production processes. Continuous improvements to production systems and utilities are implemented to enhance water efficiency, with a target to reduce the Water Use Ratio (WUR) by three percent annually. These efforts are complemented by initiatives to restore and enhance local water sources. Over the past seven years, TCP Group has helped replenish more than 18 million cubic meters of water back into communities and ecosystems through the “TCP Embracing Thailand’s River Basin” initiative, with the Bang Pakong River Basin serving as one of the key implementation areas.

Mr. Saravoot Yoovidhya, Chief Executive Officer of TCP Group, said “Water resources are fundamental to communities, ecosystems, and business growth. TCP Group has long prioritized responsible water management and has committed to achieving Net Water Positive by 2030. Achieving AWS certification for our Prachinburi plant in the Bang Pakong River Basin reflects not only our commitment to responsible water stewardship in the areas where we operate but also represents an important step for Thai industry in raising water management standards to meet international benchmarks.”

Beyond the Factory: Stewardship of the Bang Pakong River Basin

Beyond water management within its manufacturing base, TCP Group has expanded its efforts to address water challenges at the catchment level working collaboratively with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and stakeholders across the Bang Pakong Basin, including local government agencies, communities, and private sector partners.

This collaboration focuses on enhancing water storage capacity, improving water quality, and promoting knowledge exchange on water resource management. By strengthening shared understanding and collective action, the initiative aims to reduce water-related risks in the region and contribute to long-term water security for communities, ecosystems, and businesses.

“Achieving AWS Core Certification reflects T.C. Pharmaceutical’s commitment to water stewardship at its site in Prachinburi. The certification demonstrates the site’s understanding of its shared water challenges and its efforts to engage with local stakeholders. This is a meaningful step toward responsible water use at the site and catchment level,” said Scott McCready, Chief Strategy Officer, Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS).

Mrs. Pano Boonkong, Village Head, Moo 8, Ban Khlong Hua Suea, Bang Taen Subdistrict, Ban Sang District, Prachin Buri Province said, “We are proud that our community has played a role in this achievement. In the past, we simply used water as it was available and had little understanding of how conditions in the canals changed. We only knew that during periods of seawater intrusion it became harder to grow rice. When TCP Group and the WWF team came in to support us, they helped introduce knowledge about water management, encouraged canal dredging, removal of water hyacinths, and repairs to water gates. As a result, the community now has greater access to freshwater. We have also been able to turn water hyacinths into compost or woven baskets, creating additional income for local residents. Today, people in the community have a deeper appreciation for the value of our local water resources. We have gained knowledge and are committed to continuing to care for these resources so that future generations will have access to good water.

As TCP Group celebrates its 70th anniversary, achieving AWS certification reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to responsible water stewardship and represents another important milestone in elevating Thailand’s industrial water management standards to align with international benchmarks. The company continues to advance toward its Net Water Positive target by 2030, supporting a future where business growth, community wellbeing, and environmental sustainability remain in balance under the purpose “Energizing a Better World for All.”

This milestone also reinforces the operational standards of TCP Group’s production facilities, which serve as key manufacturing hubs for its products. It strengthens consumer confidence that every product is produced under processes that prioritize quality, international standards, and responsible resource use at every stage.
