TCP Group Declares Its Determination in Improving Its Labor Management by Applying GLP

TCP Group, the manufacturer and owner of global energy drink, “Red Bull” brand, and other famous brands including Ready, Sponsor, Mansome, Puriku, Sunsnack and Warrior as well as a variety of its services that captivate the hearts of thousands of people all over the world, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding “Improvement of Labor Management by Good Labor Practice (GLP)” with the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare (DLPW) and declared its intention to be an organization determined to apply GLP to its labor care and management, to enhance its commercial competitiveness, and to improve the labor management standard in food and beverage industry of Thailand.

Mr. Saravoot Yoovidhya, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TCP Group, shares that “All companies in TCP Group emphasize on treating their over 5,000 employees with respect for their human rights and on developing a good labor management system that complies with international standards. They are encouraged to adopt Good Labor Practice (GLP) in order to achieve a successful and sustainable labor management. This is consistent with the “Quality” aspect of “TCP Sustainability” that aims to become an organization that keeps human rights in mind, promoting good quality of life, physical and emotional safety for its employees, supporting development of their skills, knowledge and career advancement while boosting their organizational commitment.”

Good Labor Practice (GLP) is a basic guideline for the organization to improve employment and work conditions. Because this practice is voluntary, not mandatory, it goes to show that the organization is deliberate and sincere about contributing to the improvement of its labor’s quality of life and enhancing its commercial competitiveness.

Mr. Niyom Songkaew, Director General of Department of Labor Protection and Welfare, after signing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on “Improvement of Labor Management by Good Labor Practice (GLP)” with companies in TCP Group on March 16, 2022, reveals that Thailand government, led by General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister, and Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Labor Minister, places importance on developing labor management system that provides human right protection and improves quality of life for labor by promoting the use of Good Labor Practice (GLP) in labor management of business organizations. The purpose is to set up labor practice standard that is ethical and socially responsible. It is considered a big step taken through the cooperation of both public and private sectors in developing labor management system that can be further applied to the whole supply chain. It is to improve employment and work conditions to be in line with business ethics and free of human trafficking. As a result, it will boost Thailand competitiveness in global arena.
