The President of TCP China Supachai Junkeiat attended Thai Festival 2023 Increasing investment in China to boost Sino-Thai ties

16 March 2023

Thai Festival 2023, the annual celebration of Thai culture, was held at the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing. Organized by the embassy in cooperation with official Thai institutions, the Thai Chamber of Commerce in China, and the Thai business community. The event kicked off opening remarks by the Thai Ambassador to China, Arthayudh Srisamoot. The President of TCP China, Supachai Junkeiat, also attended the event, and joined other key representatives of the Thai community in China for a ribbon cutting ceremony marking a new chapter for the Thai Festival in China.

At the event, the Thai Defense Attaché to China presented Supachai Junkeiat with a letter expressing gratitude to TCP Group and other Thai enterprises for providing products for the Royal Thai Armed Forces Day reception held earlier this year.

The theme for this year’s Thai Festival was ‘Amazing Thailand, Amazing New Chapters’. Featuring a traditional Thai food market, musical performances, dances, Muay Thai displays, and other activities, the event fully showcased the breadth and quality of Thai products and Thailand’s diverse culture. Among the various Thai products presented at the festival, TCP’s Red Bull brand proved popular among guests.

The Thai Festival was established as a platform for strengthening relations between Thailand and China while promoting Thai products, tourism, and culture. Since formal relations between the two countries were established on July 1, 1975, China and Thailand have enjoyed important exchanges in culture and trade. Since 2013, China has been Thailand’s biggest trading partner. In January, Thailand was also designated by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism as one of twenty pilot destinations for international tourism following the easing of China’s Covid restrictions. In November 2022, China’s president, Xi Jinping, made an official visit to Thailand, representing a watershed moment in establishing closer relations and furthering cooperation and trade between the two countries.

Originating in Thailand but rooted in China, Red Bull is a leading example of Thai investment in China. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Red Bull’s entry into the China market and 30 years since TCP Group founder Chaleo Yoovidhya established China’s first Red Bull factory in the Yoovidhya family’s ancestral home of Hainan. At the end of the year, TCP Group also expects its new RMB20 billion Red Bull production base in Sichuan to begin operations. As the global owner of the Red Bull brand and trademark, TCP Group will continue to adhere to its “In China For China” strategy, increasing investment in China and contributing to China’s development through practical actions that meet its commitments to the China market while injecting further momentum into Sino-Thai trade.
