TCP Group Pioneers Printed PCR Shrink Film for “Kratingdaeng,” The First for Thailand’s Beverage Industry

Move Expands Sustainable Packaging Across Full Portfolio, Advancing “Sustainable Growth” Vision
Bangkok, September 23, 2025 – TCP Group, the manufacturer and distributor of Kratingdaeng (Red Bull), Ready, Som Plus, Sponsor, Mansome, Hi!, Puriku, Sunsnack, and Warrior, has announced a major environmental and sustainability milestone by pioneering the use of Printed Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Shrink Film for its iconic “Kratingdaeng” packaging. This move, the first for Thailand’s beverage industry, significantly reduces the use of virgin plastic and elevates sustainable packaging standards, reinforcing the company's vision of “Sustainable Growth”, which aims to strike a balance between business growth, society, and environment.
According to data from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), over 400 million tons of plastic are produced worldwide each year, yet only 9% is properly recycled, while the remaining 91% is either landfilled, incinerated, or leaked into the environment. This global challenge aligns with TCP Group’s commitment to advancing “Sustainable Packaging Innovation” to address environmental challenges and modern consumer behaviors. Towards this end, TCP Group has designed packaging to utilize resources efficiently and maximize recycling and reuse.
(Mr. Saravoot Yoovidhya, Chief Executive Officer, TCP Group)
“At TCP Group, the development of sustainable packaging innovation is a core mission. We believe that every step—from design, sourcing eco-friendly materials, production to delivery to consumers—must consider the impact on both people and the planet. This approach not only meets consumer needs but also plays a crucial role in creating tangible positive impacts on society and the environment.” Mr. Saravoot Yoovidhya, Chief Executive Officer, TCP Group, said “This is why we have integrated this concept across our entire portfolio, enabling the development of recyclable packaging for every brand. Our pioneering use of PCR Shrink Film for ‘Kratingdaeng’ which contains 30% recycled plastic, exceeds current industry requirements. We chose to move forward to elevate sustainability standards in Thailand’s food and beverage industry and to reflect our leadership in driving meaningful change.”
Currently, TCP Group has developed recyclable packaging for every product across its portfolio, covering 5 categories.
1. Glass Bottle
- Kratingdaeng glass bottles were redesigned from square to spherical, reducing bottle weight by 12% to minimize resource use.
- Introduce Bio-based Plastic for the first time in Thailand to reduce virgin plastic in the aluminum cap liners of Sponsor.
2. PET Bottle (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
- Mansome Collagen (Low Sugar) bottles now use 30% Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (rPET), significantly reducing the need for virgin plastic.
- Switch all labels from PVC plastic to PET plastic, preserving recycling processes and the environment.
- Reduce PET plastic weight across TCP Group’s products, with Sponsor achieving a 5.7% weight reduction.
- Develop a “Tethered Cap” for Sponsor’s sports drink with an innovative new bottle cap, ensuring the cap remains attached to the bottleneck when opened. It is more convenient for consumers, reduces the risk of losing the cap, and improves recycling process efficiency.
- Stamped caps on Puriku bottle instead of using colored ink to reduce resource usage.
3. Aluminum Can
- Reduce the thickness of aluminum can from 0.275 millimeters to 0.240 millimeters to decrease resource usage and reduce environmental impact.
4. Sachet
- Develop MONO-STRUCTURE innovation using polyolefin for Sunsnack packaging. This enables the sachet to be recycled in a single step without separating the plastic layers.
5. Box
- All box packaging is made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)–certified materials derived from wood or wood pulp sourced from sustainably managed forests.
Beyond achieving its goal of making 100% of its packaging recyclable by 2024, TCP Group continues to advance its “Sustainable Growth” concept in every step of its business operations. TCP Group is also committed to expanding the concept of sustainable packaging innovation to every country in which it operates, driving widespread positive impact under its purpose to “Energize a Better World for All.”
